A Labor Of Love, Inspired By Family History

Past to Pixel began with a deeply personal project. My grandfather was a career photographer, starting as the Post Photographer at Ft. Knox and later working for the U.S. Department of the Interior/Bureau of Reclamation in Colorado. His photographs were priceless—both historically and personally.

After he passed away, I brought his entire collection of photos from Colorado to Montana. For years, they sat in storage, and I worried constantly about what might happen to them. When I searched for a way to digitize and preserve them, I found only mail‑in services far away. There was no way I was going to trust the mail with such fragile, irreplaceable memories.

So, I invested in a top‑of‑the‑line glass‑top scanner and began carefully digitizing each photo myself. One by one, I scanned and color‑corrected them, bringing faded images back to life while protecting the originals.

That experience sparked something bigger. I realized that if I needed this service locally, others in Eastern Montana and Western North Dakota surely did too. That’s how *Past to Pixel* was born.

Today, I treat every photo and document with the same care I gave my grandfather’s collection. Because your memories deserve to be preserved—not just stored. At Past to Pixel, your history is handled with the same respect and attention I give my own.

Our Services: Preserving Your Past

At Past To Pixel, if it can go on a scanner, I can scan and digitize it. Old photos, family recipes, letters, important document, business documents, and even photo albums (If adhesive was used, I just scan the whole page). I can make any documents scanned into searchable PDF's too!

Local, Affordable, and Caring

I don't want this to be an overly expensive service, so I do it from my home office to keep my expenses low. I was quoted over $1 per scan when I was looking into other options, and there was just no way I could afford that with the number of photos I had. I cannot in good consience charge people of these wonderful communities around me that much!

Since I do this from a locked appartment building that is not very accessible for those who don't live here, I decided I would go ahead and come to you! All photos and documents will be transported with care in a water/dust proof container at all times.
